Podcast: Star Ratings strategies for smaller MA plans

A woman listens to a podcast while sitting on a sofa.

With the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently deciding to recalculate the 2024 Star Ratings, Medicare Advantage (MA) plans have been closely watching to determine the present and future impact on their programs. In particular, smaller MA plans that lack the resources and economies of scale of major MA payers have to determine where to make targeted investments that will drive the highest impact on future ratings.

Amid these challenges, Cotiviti recently joined AJMC’s Managed Care Cast to offer strategies for MA plans to improve their CMS Star Ratings. Listen to the podcast as we discuss:

  • The impact of the 2024 Star Ratings on MA plans, including some payers exiting the MA market altogether
  • The strategies smaller MA plans can adopt to maximize the impact of their quality initiatives
  • The “math path” approach to optimizing Star Ratings
