Addressing health equity in quality and engagement programs
Health equity means the attainment of the highest level of health for all people, where everyone has a fair and just opportunity to achieve their optimal health regardless of race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, preferred language, or other factors that affect access to care and health outcomes. Inequities in the U.S. healthcare system cost approximately $320 billion annually and could reach $1 trillion in spending by 2040 if left unaddressed.
Today’s health plan leaders play a critical role in supporting health equity initiatives from collection of SDOH information, using data and insights to address member needs and assisting members in closing gaps in care. However, this requires collaboration across multiple internal and external stakeholders, including quality and member engagement teams, to prioritize efforts, drive change, and improve health outcomes among their members.
In this session, you will learn:
- How health plans are addressing health equity across the enterprise
- Strategies for enhancing health equity through community-based engagement
- Best practices for measuring and monitoring interventions for success
